Raeford Dwyer is an Art Director with a talent for communicating ideas using multiple mediums and platforms. His career has encompassed many key areas of the visual communication landscape including interactive and web design, broadcast and environmental design, motion graphics, scenic art and photography.
He has earned Seven Emmy Awards, most recently in 2016 for TNT's Inside the NBA set. He was the Senior Graphic Designer on the set design team for ESPNs Emmy-winning 2014 SportsCenter Studio. In 2012, he was part of the Jack Morton/PDG design team that won an Emmy for NBC's Democracy Plaza, an interactive experience and broadcast center that transformed Rockefeller Plaza for the weeks leading up to and including the network's election night coverage.
Born and raised in South Africa, he moved to London in his teens where he finished his schooling in graphic design and photography. He also developed an amateur computer habit. (It was the '80s.) He served his two years of compulsory military service in the South African Air Force in the elite K-9 unit, then high-tailed it to New York.
His big break came at age 20, when he landed a job as a production assistant on the launch team of PBS's Where In The World is Carmen Sandiego Withinweeks, he was in charge of the show's video graphics department, which he ran for five seasons, completing 295 episodes. The team developed a spinoff show, Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego?, for which Raeford served as Animation Producer and Art Director.
His work was nominated for several Emmy Awards for Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?, including for "Outstanding Graphics & Title Design" and "Outstanding Children's Series." Raeford was also nominated for a 1997 Juried Award for "Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation."
Over the past decade Raeford has teamed up with the most respected Scenic Designers in the business, bringing visual clarity and graphic design support to highly visible broadcast and experiential projects.
Raeford loves the great outdoors and adventure travel and is an avid rock climber, surfer and skier.
